My nearly disastrous day travelling to Steemfest
Finally it's D Day and I'm on my way to Bangkok. I haven't travelled on my own for a long time. Hope everything goes smoothly.
UBUS Chao Ma Station 8/10
The first leg of my SteemFest journey starts from catching the coach to the airport. It's two hours away so I left home with plenty of time to spare.
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport 5/10
Disaster! I got off the coach at the wrong terminal! My flight leaves from T1 and I got off at T2. Now I need to catch the shuttle train and head over to T1. Luckily it only takes a few minutes and the shuttles run very frequent.

Taoyuan Airport 1st Terminal 5/10
Arrived at the check in desk, only delayed by 15 minutes so its not the end of the world. All good. I've done the online check in but there's still a long queue for bag drop.
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport 3/10
It's a freakin disaster!!!!!! Turns I can't fly on my ticket as my husband bought it with his credit card and I'm flying by myself. Apparently we should have verified the ticket and credit card 72 hours ago before travel. Now I have to buy another ticket. Luckily they didn't rip me off. It's the same price as my original ticket and they will give me a full refund for the first one. Phew!!

Boarded at last! Four more hours and I'll be in Bangkok! 
Suvarnabhumi Airport 7/10
Arrived at Bangkok at last. The traffic is quite notorious here so the easiest way to get into town is via the Airport Rail Link. It takes about 50 minutes, I didn't time it but that's what I was told as I was busy chatting to my room mate for this week.
Prince Palace Hotel 9/10
After 8 hours, one small mishap and one near disaster I finally arrived at my hotel. And guess what? We got upgraded to a suite😊. What a nice start to Steemfest! Looking forward to the next few days.

Your experience at Taoyuan airport sounds like so many of mine at PEK. Glad you finally got to Bangkok in one piece though.
Oh, and getting upgraded to a suite is nice. I had that happen once in Macao.
Would've been great if it weren't for the fact that I only had four hours to sleep before needing to wake up and catch a flight to Kaohsiung. :-P
When did you come to Taiwan? Did you get to visit any other places as well?
Well, my first visit there was back in 2017, to visit my now-ex. I was in Kaohsiung for 3 days but didn't get around the city that much.
The second time was a mere 12 hour layover in Taipei on a flight from Manila back to Beijing, so it was only good for sightseeing but I managed to get to Chiang's monument as well as Zhongshan's memorial there, which was a fascinating addition to my study of Dr. Sun.
I've been to his Mausoleum in Nanjing, his birthplace in Chuiheng (in the city that now bears his name), his former residence in Shanghai, and the museum in Wuhan devoted to the 1911 Revolution, and feverishly devour every book I can find about him or his work.
Anyway, I'd like to spend more time in Taiwan (truth be told I'd rather live there than here), but... well, my work here isn't done yet.
We had a rather shaky start like you but not this bad. Hope to see you soon!

That airline ticket debacle is nuts. I have never heard of such a thing! I have bought my husband tickets on my card before when I wasn’t traveling with him. Glad it all worked out and you have arrived!
