張國榮自殺新聞越傳越厲害，終於傍晚電視新聞證實他下午在中環文華酒店跳樓自殺!!! 家人有當記者，說當日全港記者都忙着採訪淘大花園事件，至確認張國榮消息到達現場，警方和酒店已處理好現場。還好，這為愛美的哥哥留下最後一點尊嚴。
