ИЗ vs ОТ emotions / the difference between two Russian words

in #russian8 years ago

In this series for intermediate learners we will compare confusing words and see the difference in their usage looking at real exapmles from every day life. I really hope this kind of videos are useful for you guys because I know the feeling of confusion myself when it comes to English or French, similar exapmles help to see the difference better!
In the previous video we talked about two prepositions that mean "form, out of", but have different usage in certain situations.

  1. The preposition B is used when talking about PLACES (I'm from Moscow, I went out of the room), and the preposition OT is used with people (I came from a doctor, I came from friends etc)
  2. The preposition B is used when something was inside somethig and we got it out of there (I got a toy from a box / я достал игрушку из коробки) and the preposition OT is used when we were next to something and we are just getting further from it increasing a disctance (I got further from a house/ я отошёл от дома )
  3. The preposition B is used when talking about materials, something is made out of something (a botle made of glass / бутылка из стекла) and the preposition Ot is used when talking about something that compliments something else (a key from a lock / ключ от замка)
