Monaco
The Principality of Monaco (Monegasian: Principatu de Mu̍negu, French: Principé de Monaco) is a dwarf state on the Mediterranean Sea, which is further enclosed by France. Monaco is 2.02 km² and is the smallest country in the world after Vatican City. It employs 30,645 (2017) inhabitants, making it the most populated independent state in the world.
Monaco was founded on January 8, 1297. Although Monaco is completely enclosed by the European Union, the country is not a member. It does have the euro as a currency.
The dwarf state is known internationally as a breathtaking seaside resort and tax haven with a famous casino, beau monde and an annual Grand Prix in Formula 1 car racing. Besides the national football team, it also has its own football club, AS Monaco, which plays in the French league
