Mallorca
The island was built in 123 BC. conquered by the Romans, who founded the city of Palma. After them the Vandals (450 AD), the Byzantines (534) and the Moors (902) appeared successively. In 1229, James I of Aragón (Spanish: Jaime I, Catalan: Jaume I) attacked with Aragonese troops and conquered Palma in December. The Muslims, however, continued to offer military resistance to the mountain until 1231. From 1276 to 1344 the island was an independent kingdom. During this time Palma de Mallorca and Perpignan were the capital of the kingdom. Then it became a province of Aragon for centuries. Autonomy got it (with the other Balearics) only in 1983.
