Compromising without compromising oneself.

A not so subtle difference.

There is a huge difference between making compromises in certain situations and compromising yourself.

Because we are highly social beings, most of the things that matter are built together. Cooperation is one of those fundamental elements we need in order to move things forward. But this is not always easy, communities are a mixture of feelings, visions, approaches, desires, gains, and intent. Thus disagreements are imminent.

So it becomes apparent that for a community to move forward, its members need to understand how cooperation works and find the best ways to compromise.

However, one of the other things that are very important in a community is individuality. Each member comes with a set of core principles that define oneself. And there will be situations in which some will be confronted with compromising one of their core beliefs, which is a totally different story.

I don't want to walk in a direction I don't believe in, so if I'm going to encounter this situation, going against my core beliefs is a deal breaker. But if I really believe in that goal, I will find a way to pursue it without compromising myself.

So, with compromises, we will need to walk a very fine line between finding mutually advantageous solutions and going against our core self.

The road ahead.

Part of the Romanian community here on Steemit is trying to come together and build @steemromania, a page designed to support the community in different ways. Not an easy task, but a worthwhile one for sure.

However, due to the decentralized environment, no one vision will be put in action. All of us can contribute to the end goal, but it will look radically different from what each of us had envisioned at the beginning.

There will be no central authority dictating what needs to be done, we have to figure this out for ourselves and then find ways of bridging our visions. We need to find a way of acting as one, without losing our individuality. This will be our test!

From my personal point of view, I will not lie, steal or cheat, or be an accomplice to such behavior. Apart from this, I will try to work with anything is thrown my way.
