Sightseeing Tour in Berlin
After many restaurant visits, we decided to go for a short sightseeing tour in Berlin. My friend, with whom I was traveling, is highly interested in culture and history, but hasn’t been in the German capital city before, so we went to look for some nice spots. We started our tour at the Brandenburg Gate. The weather was pleasantly sunny, so we had to take the opportunity to take some nice photos in front of the gate, which quickly turned into a small, fun photo shoot. The classical architecture of the Brandenburg Gate is mainly inspired by the Greek Acropolis of Athens. Affected by numerous significant historical events, it is an important national landmark. Today it is symbolizing a united Germany. Located in a pretty central area, and surrounded by plenty of classy hotels and restaurants, it is a popular spot for tourists, where all kinds of people from all over the world encounter each other.
We also got to throw a glance at the East Side Gallery, as we took a relaxed walk alongside it. This part of the Berlin Wall is painted with statements of many artists about the changes in 1989/90. This Open Air Gallery is a beautiful must-see exhibition that definitely shouldn’t be skipped on a trip through Berlin, because it also demonstrates the open minded art scene of this place.
As Berlin is such a huge city, which can’t be explored in just one day, we didn’t get to see all beautiful corners there, so we went to visit the highest building of Germany: the television tower. It is an essential feature of Berlin, where we got the chance to have a splendid view on the enormously wide city and its brio. The nice weather made the sight of the whole capital city even better. I’m sure that I would have loved to experience the night view of Berlin, which certainly would have been breathtaking.
My friend and I had so much fun that day and what we learned from our trip to Berlin was, how quickly time flies. This city has so much to offer. We went to many beautiful places, met many really lovely and open-hearted people, got to eat delicious food and had a lot of fun by just walking around the streets. So one day is definitely not enough to explore the city, where cultures harmonize, art is on par with speech and where freedom is lived. I intend to travel there again in the next few weeks, so I can give you more insight into the highly versatile streets of Berlin!
