Amsterdam - Matcha Heaven

As I mentioned in my last post, my cousins from Melbourne came to visit. We did not only spend time here in Germany, but also went for a small day trip to Amsterdam. Amsterdam, a beautiful city I not only associate with its exceptional historical flair and famous canals, but also with their various kinds of coffee and dessert shops. After having dinner (at an Indonesian restaurant), we looked for a matcha cafe, as we were all matcha lovers. We read a lot about the “Matcha Bar”, whose homepage offered a great overview on their concept and a detailed menu and pictures of some of their goodies, which made our mouths instantly water.

We came to a very cute looking little shop, which pleasant atmosphere created an utmost homey cosy feeling. It was furnished very modernly and gave off a really fresh vibe, matching the image of matcha. Matcha is a green powdered tea, which contains many vitamins, carotenes and a handful of important other antioxidants. The Greentea from Japan has been hyped for many years now and is still used in so many ways. It has been a popular ingredient for many teas, coffees, and spiced up so many types of desserts. Not only is it known for its healthy value, but it also provides a dulcet flavor, combining sweetness and slightly bitterness in a light weight manner, which makes it an essential ingredient for creating an unforgettable taste.

We arrived there just a bit before closing time, so I am guessing that we unfortunately didn’t get to see the whole range of desserts they usually offer. But they still had some other super yummy looking cakes and cookies, so we chose a few of those ones. I went for the matcha tiramisu. The balance of that sweet cream and the light bitterness of the matcha was just perfect. Of course I had to take a bite of my cousins matcha cake roll too. Because of that soft consistency, it was really nice to eat, as it almost melted in my mouth. Not only do they offer matcha desserts, but also do they have some other popular Japanese snacks. The Japanese cheesecake, which is known for its fluffy texture, was one of those. And I can say, it absolutely met my high expectations.

The lovely experience in the “Matcha Bar” with a highly friendly staff and our completely satisfied appetite created a nice ending to our day in Amsterdam. A place for every matcha lover or coffee enthusiast, who wants to enjoy a freshened up concept of tea, while having some extraordinary delicacy in a beautiful atmosphere. I am happy to say that a trip to Amsterdam is totally worth!

I wanna return back to amsterdam. The transit system was awesome.

<3 Albert Hjeinn.

I lovee Albert Heijn! The transit system is like here in Germany :D

I would buy orange juice and some of the pastries/croissants! It was way better than my typical 7-11 store. I met some Germans while in amsterdam. I do want to visit Berlin and Hamburg sometime. I remember learning about the history of the Berlin Wall.

very cool! Hamburg and Berlin are the most beautiful and exciting cities in Germany! Where are you from?

I got to know you as a "loving matcha girl" that place looks good tho

I could eat it every day!

Oh never been to that place. Been to Amsterdam many times (around 20-25) and was there last weekend for a festival actually.

Will definitely check this place out next time I visit in summer! 🙏🏼

Otherwise, if you happen to be into travelling, vlogs, fitness, self-development etc feel free to check out my channel, in any case keep up the good work and I'll see you around!

That often? Where are you from? Very cool, I will check out your blog

Yeah, since my young years I've been listening to a genre called Hardstyle where the sort of "nation" of the genre is the Netherlands, so all huge festivals are basically based there.

I'm from Sweden originally :)

Why the right lady takes the spoon of the cake from one of your friends sitting next to you lol.

They are sisters hahahah we have been sharing the desserts

Oh okay then it's fine :d

I love matcha (tea/ice/everything) as well and will go there soon! First the salmon burger now the matcha bar, I definitely like your food choice :-)
