Brick (2005)
To put it simply, see this film.
I mentioned Rian Johnson a few posts back, and here I am again.
This is on my personal favorites list. Johnson's awareness of tone, structure, editing, pace, motif, it's all so sharp, so aware, so well structured. And after all that, it just feels fun, interesting, something worth making.
Anyone into the mystery or detective genre should take a double recommendation on this one.
So far it's still my favorite Rian Johnson film.
Brick Trailer:
Regarding sound design, chase scenes, or story structure (to me this is the midpoint of the film, its T-Rex scene, if you will):
Cheers to interesting storytelling.
Be well.
