33-year-old Dolly Greenway had given up on her life's ambition to become a housekeeper.

However, at a birthday party she discovers some stingy men trying to rob her admirable friend, Sophia Ramsbottom, and she decides it's time for change.

In need of some charms and cold dice, helpful and gentle Dolly pops to Camborne for a bit of shopping.

Having led a happy life, Dolly finds herself unable to find cold dice in Camborne. So she sets out to acquire some cold dice from Truro instead.

Soon, she has all the cold dice she needs and begins secretly applying for housekeeper jobs. She soon realises that stingy men plan to sabotage her new career prospects and decides to take action.

However, when Dolly is taken ill with gangrenous legs, it looks as though the stingy men will prosper.

Will Dolly Greenway be able to save both the day and her legs?
