I hope everyone had a great Sunday! Back to things tomorrow, a brand new week, a brand new day!
Today was a busy day of work for me, and so I did not have time to finish my post on my most recent adventure. So I will have to push that until tomorrow! A great local hiking trail with a lot of nature. Fungi, rock formations, and perhaps even a small little critter or two. Check in tomorrow to see!

Anyhow, we have Day 17 today of the daily art!

Solrock

---

A pokemon said to be from the surface of the sun, Solrock is the counterpart to Lunatone, the moon pokemon. Solrock spins its body to create light and heat in order to attack its opponents. It is said to be able to sense the emotions and read the mind of people and enemies. Gaining the bulk of its energy during the day in sunlight, Solrock is weakened at night.

Flat Colors

As usual, each color is on a different layer! This makes it easy to lock transparency and shade!

Veins

So if you're familiar with the design of Solrock, around its eyes there's some black lines that I thought I might change when drawing. I ended up going and creating veins in Solrock's body, which I thought would be a cool touch :)

Shading

---

Here we are first - as said above, I locked transparency on each color layer, and got to work with shading using the pen tool and a lighter and darker shade of each respective color. Still learning cel shading tips myself!

I finish up by shading in the veins with some white, creating a cool little effect!
The last step is to soft shade a bit with a white color using the airbrush tool on each color.

This one is made from 6 frames total, each cross-faded into one another to give the white pulse a nice transition.
