Our First Quail Egg Photo Shoot

in #food9 years ago

Yesterday while moving the quail enclosure John spotted our first egg.  It only takes them two months from hatching to lay their own and they've officially started.  So I did what any self respecting farmer would do and I cooked it and ate it, regardless of the fact that I generally just don't like eggs.

They actually sell these tiny eggs in stores like Walmart for about 45 pesos for 30-40 of them.  I was gifted some to try and wasn't a fan of the texture. So I haven't been super excited, well, not until I saw one of our own.

It was like a tiny dragon egg and I felt compelled to try it!

So I cracked it into a pan of avocado oil I had just used to heat a hot dog for John and fried it up.

Over easy.

I ate it in two small bites, no salt or pepper.

And I was surprised. It had the texture of a chicken egg and honestly kind of tasted like chicken.  It wasn't eggy in the slightest in flavor and it didn't put me off at all like eggs generally do.  This little egg has left me wanting more quails and eggs, that's for sure.

Thanks for following and supporting us, until next time

great and yummy

How cute! I remember the excitement of three years ago when we got our first egg. I was a little freaked out to eat the first egg. I'm over that lol. Upvoted and followed.

I wasn't freaked out but I was convinced it'd end up full of shell pieces, I got lucky.

what a great egg and very yummy make hungry

Same here, I'm ready for more.

I want :))
