Chickens Abound, Part 1: Super Simple DIY Chicken Enclosure
When we got chickens, John spent quite a while doing research on the simplest chicken tractor he could find. Most of what he found wasn't that simple by most people's standards and certainly wasn't what he was looking for. So he came up with his own plan and here it is. We've been using this simple chicken enclosure for over a week with good results.
What you need:
4 3 foot 2x4 in boards
One pallet
Several Meters Chicken wire
Saw
Drill
Screws
Staple Gun
Pen
Tape Measure
He started by drilling two holes in one end of each of those boards.
To attach them to the corners, one at a time using the predrilled holes as a guide.
He stapled chicken wire on three sides of the box, leaving one side uncovered.
To finish the job, we also used:
scissors
hammer
bolt cutters
plastic mesh netting
We affixed the plastic netting to the open side, leaving the top unstapled.
This piece of twine was added to keep the bottom tense, to deter escaping chickens or incoming predators.
The top is closed using a tension based system involving cleverly placed nails. So far it hasn't posed an issues.
AS you can see, the chickens were too happy to stop to pose for a picture.
My only complaint is that it's tough to move. Considering we haven't yet moved it, this hasn't been an issue.

Nice work man , I hope you see their grandchildren ^_^
Hurray! Cute little chickens.
That will soon grow up to be tasty looking chickens.
So far, which do you like better, rabbits or chickens?
