3...2...1... ACTION!! Starring pelican Johny!

The Brown Pelican is a very extraordinary creature. It is an iconic animal symbol of the Gulf of Mexico. Pelicans are living along the coasts of the Atlantic, Pacific Ocean, and Gulf of Mexico in the North and South America.

You can see them flying in various formation (straight line, V-shapes etc.) of hunting in the early morning hours or at sunset time, also floating on water, resting on the beaches and also hovering around fishing boats anticipating leftovers from the catch.
They are social birds, usually forming groups of at least 4 or 5 individuals.

I love watching their fishing skills for hours, their brilliant diving technique is quite thrilling as they descend straight down from great heights kingfisher style, bill first into the water to take their food.
They eat mostly fish and some amphibians and crustaceans. The pelicans’ throat pouch, the gular pouch, can hold up to 3 gallons of water and fish.
