Names to Never Give Children: Etymology Word of the Day: DOLORES

in #etymology7 years ago (edited)

There are many words that are unfit to name our children, for their resonance has the powerful potential to shape their expression and who they become. - Cullen Smith

The science that I've been piecing together for a while now, and have been compiling evidence for a strong case for a future presentation on the field of Onomantia, revolves around the FATE and character expression of a person, is heavily influenced by their NAMES, dates, #numerology, #astrology and #symbolism surrounding and influencing their lives. Such as the case, of certain men's lives and FATES that were heavily tied the symbolic origins of their NAMES, like Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, the root etymon being the Hebrew word #MLK, MELEK, KING, LEADERSHIP AND ULTIMATE SACRIFICE. See full article on that>> https://www.patreon.com/posts/malcolm-x-mlk-13564142

Such as deeply symbolic names like Nikolas Cruz and Stephen Paddock just to name a few that i've covered in etreme detail in my presentations. I plan to offer onomancy readings and esoteric insights when I get a website up. Feel free to contact me for your own personal readings and sessions.

Dolores
fem. proper name, from Spanish Maria de los Dolores, literally "Mary of the Sorrows," from plural of dolor, from Latin dolor "pain, sorrow."

dolorous (adj.)
c. 1400, "causing pain," from Old French doloros (12c., Modern French douloureux) "painful, sorrowful, wretched," from Late Latin dolorosus "painful, sorrowful," from Latin dolor "pain, grief." Sense of "causing grief" is from mid-15c.; that of "full of sorrow" is from 1510s. Related: Dolorously; dolorousness.

This is a slide from a future project I plan to release once I have it all worked up. I've been so overwhelmed by all the things I want to produce and release, thats its hard to find the time to write and describe them all so that it's clear and demystified. :/

dolor (countable and uncountable, plural dolors)

  1. (literary) Sorrow, grief, misery or anguish.
  2. A unit of pain used to theoretically weigh people's outcomes.
    Antonyms
    (unit of pain): hedon

Catalan
Noun
dolor m, f (plural dolors)

  1. pain of a continuing nature, especially that of rheumatism
  2. sorrow or grief of a continuing nature

Now some people like to associate this etymology with the word DOLLAR. However, this wouldnt necessarily be accurate or correct as dollar officially comes from the German and Swedish THALER. Although this would be extremely fitting as as a simple vowel shift from Dolor to Thaler to dolar.
