Many people ask us, how we can afford travel so often and do trips all over the world. And today, I want to tell you how we do it in Europe and how you dear Steemit friend can do it the same. Firstly I’m gonna tell you 5 ways to travel cheaply in Europe Transportation wise:

1. Lowcost Carrier Airlines

Lowcost carriers like Ryanair and Easyjet are a great way to explore Europe, they have a huge network all over Europe, and there is also a good carrier for East Europe is Wizz Air. We used to fly from Basel to London and just paid 13 EUR and including all taxes! I also used to fly to South Europe and paid less than 100 euro, such as Lisbon or Barcelona. A minus point is, that you mostly have additional costs for checked-in luggage. Good websites to find cheap flight deals are for example swodoo.com, kayak.com or kiwi.com.

我们经常用这几个网站来搜索廉价机票,swodoo.com, kayak.com,kiwi.com.

2. Long distance bus traveling

Just a few years ago long distance bus traveling got really popular with the appearance of Flixbus and co. With Flixbus you can travel really cheap, convenient and also quite comfortable through whole Europe, there is also another advantage, there are most buses even with wifi connection, you will not feel bored during the journey. The network of Flixbus is still growing extremely fast and more nightbus lines are opening day by day. At the moment, you can have a very good deal, which is 5 bus rides in whole Europe, wherever you want for just 99 Euros. We tried it out on our last Trip to France and Italy and it is a really great way to explore Europe as you can buy your ticket spontaneously and decide the evening before, where you wanna go and you just pay 20 EUR for the ride. A great website to compare bus fares and find tickets is www.busbud.com - Thanks to @beforeyoupack for the hint!

3. Saving tickets on European Railways

Another great way to explore Europe super cheap is by train, this is also my favorite travel way. Normal tickets can be quite expensive but there is a way to get incredible good deals; you need to book weeks or sometimes even months ahead, but then you can get for example from Zurich to Paris for 30EUR, or from Zurich to Vienna for 29EUR or more. Therefore you have to visit the websites of the train companies, example for whole europe: raileurope.com,www.voyages.sncf.fr and www.bahn.de/sparpreis, you also can check out other European countries on their own official railway website, you can always find some discount.

这里有几个网站可以淘到打折票,raileurope.com www.voyages.sncf.fr 和 www.bahn.de/sparpreis

4. Blablacar

Blablacar is a free App, which you can download and find people who are carpooling from one place to another. Its a good way to travel in Germany or France, i guess also in other countries its usable. I mostly used it for Germany. You register on the App, check from where to where you wanna go and the app shows you drivers, who want to drive the same way. They offer you a price and if you agree, they pick you up at a meeting point and take you where you wanna go. A great way to travel fast, meet new people and travel cheap.

5. Hitchhiking

The cheapest way to travel in Europe is hitchhiking. It’s also a great way to meet people and you have a true travel feeling. 99 percent people don’t ask for money and if so, they will tell you before you enter the car. Its also pretty safe, fast and especially in Germany and East Europe its quite easy to get a lift.

The idea that Europe is expensive has always prevented me from traveling there. Your not the first person to tell me that it's actually affordable though. I hope I can get there before I'm an old man.

it is hard to travel TO Europe from outside, but once you're in Europe, it's really cheap. Especially, if you are smart about plane, rail and bus tickets :) I would highly recommend, because you can even travel anywhere here, and you're always going to end up in a beautiful destination.

Yes you definitely should visit Europe, and really - it is affordable, especially if you have time and not here just for a week or so..

I will make it there one day for sure. There is a lot of history I want to see and food I want to devour haha.

Great tips! Very interesting to read about since I'm living in Europe (Belgium). Some things to add:

Low budget airlines:
Use sky scanner (app/website) to find the best deals, planned a round trip in Africa only using this app, was a major success

Another cheap way to get around on train is buy the European rail pass:
https://www.interrail.eu/
1 pass for 30 countries, and you can sleep on certain trains :)

Look for B&B's, they are run by local people who know some money saving tips & tricks.
We have some of the best B&B's in a very affordable price range. Find the best ones on Airbnb (app)

Hitchhiking pro tip as a former scout:
Wear a youth movement uniform and always have something to write on, so people can see clearly where you want to go.

Secret tip:
Make some European steemian friends :)

Save travels !

Thank you so much for your great additional tips @sacrezm! True, skyscanner is another very useful website. I'm just a bit disappointed about skyscanner as it sometimes shows prices on the first page, which are not true at the end. With kayak or kiwi, i didn't have this experience yet. Interrail is also a great way to explore Europe. Just the ticket prices were quite rising in recent years so depending on which countries you wanna go and how much you wanna travel, single tickets might be even cheaper at the end. About hitchhiking: In my experience, it can be useful sometimes to write where you wanna go, but the best experience i had was asking people directly at gas stations where they go and if they wanna give me a lift. I will definitely consider your "Secret tip" for my next travel!!;-)

Great post! Plane tickets inside Europe can be very cheap. I book my plane tickets through skyscanner. You should checkout busbud. Traveling by bus in the same country is usually a steal.

Thanks @beforeyoupack! Wow, i dind't know about busbud yet! Amazing website!! Thanks a lot for telling me!!:-)

wow nice trip its a lovely place

I didn't even think that flying can be so cheap! Europe was always something scary expensive for me 😅
Great post, thank you, @liflorence! Will you write about how to save money on food and accomodation? 😁

Low cost airlines are the best variant.

Great post, living in Europe and travelling through Europe is so great and can be really cheap indeed :)! Keep on posting!

Thanks @travellust! You are right!:-)

I definitely use the technique of long distance bus travelling not only to save on travel costs, but also on one night of hostel stay. Great tips! Thanks for sharing. :)

Thats right @boomshikha! Its a great way to safe a night at a hostel if you are able to find sleep at i night bus. Some people don't and they rather spend another night at a hostel..;-) And you get to see more of the landscape if traveling during the day.. But of course it always depends on everyones preferences..;-)

Yes, it's definitely depending on preference. It can go either way. :)

Nice post! %100 upvote ☺
