Biker Boys

Biker boys are very famous in every society and this trend has come from Hollywood. We have seen several movies on it and in real life people also form different clubs and groups in which they travel together on bikes. In Pakistan biker boys’ trend also exists and in every city you find these biker boys groups which arrange some sort of get together on weekends and on bikes they explore the different areas.

These biker boys mostly own heavy bikes. These bikes are very expensive like minimum 5 lakh to up to four to five million Pakistani rupees. Mostly these bikes are imported and they also pay extra on custom duty to get these bikes. So only true bike lovers have guts to have these bikes. There are some dedicated showrooms in Pakistan who only deal in heavy bikes and import them.

I arranged a meet up of Islamabad and Rawalpindi Biker boys in Blue area Islamabad on weekend. Mainly purpose of this meeting was to shot a documentary report for my Morning show program. All these bikers gave entry into arena in groups like two, three and four bike formation.

Mostly these bikers maintain a discipline and don’t do rash driving. As this meet up was arranged early morning and all the roads were empty. So they also did some wheeling. Some bikers also hook go pro cameras on their helmet to film the event.

I also had some chit chat with these biker boys and I realized that bikers belong to every age group. They are also very well settled people like some are businessmen, Doctors, engineers and civil servant etc. They are doing this as a hobby and they arrange some travel on weekends and enjoy the bike ride.

In Pakistan there is no arena or area fixed for that kind of activity. Even on motorway after Supreme Court decision now bikers are allowed to travel on heavy bikes. If these biker groups travel some where they face tough situations, like police don’t allow them.

We must encourage this extreme sport and must provide them some ground where they can show their skills.
