I'm feeling really inspired by a Seth Rogan interview on Dax Shepard's pod cast Armchair Expert (have you heard it?! It's so good, great guests and lots of interesting conversations with actors)

In the interview Seth talks about how early in his career he never took for granted the amazing situations he was in as a young actor/writer and he made it his goal to make sure he was working harder than anyone else every day. He would act all day, write all night and it didn't matter how little sleep he got because he was soaking up opportunity. He knew he was working as hard as he could, so even when he failed he didn't become paralyzed he accepted it as a a lesson learnt and went back to working, harder than anyone else.

Bad ass.

I think there is always a healthy balance to find with work and play as I've written about on here before. But riffing off of Seth Rogans interview- working hard on something you love isn't exhausting, it's exhilarating! It's actually a perfect way to sum up being a circus performer when I think about it. After shows people always say "Oh you must be exhausted" truth is, I'm not! I love it and want more and the same is true of my work as an actor or writer.

Yesterday I sat down and banged out my first pilot script for a web series I want to make (I may even start by sharing it on Dtube or Dlife...wheels are turninnnnn') And this is the first time I've said it out loud to the world. PHEWF!

I've always dreamt of creating my own show but haven't given it the time and space it needs to really happen. With my ankle still on the mend and having to cancel some teaching and training it has really given me time to realize some of my dreams that are outside of my rigorous physical regime. Oh the sneaky blessings in disguise we are given.

When I woke up at 6am the other morning with THE idea I went right to work. Creativity doesn't always pick the best times but when you feel the WAVE you ride it. I didn't completely know where to start or what I was doing but I sat down and I Made. It. Happen. I figured it out, and will continue to figure it out as I grow and develop. Pros like Seth Rogan didn't ask for permission, they weren't gifted a career, they showed up and did the work.

Even writing on Steemit has been apart of this creative practice (and saving grace for my sprained ankle) It is giving me an opportunity every day to practice writing and making sure I am working as hard as I possibly can to make projects in my life happen.

So here's to working your ass off and feeling exhilarated and only exhausted when you've hit the pillow and are ready for well deserved sleep.

I appreciate your generosity and inspiration that is apparent in this post. It seems to me that you didn't choose circus. Circus chose you. May your ankle heals soon...

thank you xoxo
