Marvelously Clean Quail Watering Trough Design.
For those of you reading that have quail, you know how messy they are with water. They scratch and get stuff in it, they hop in and poo. I was changing their water several times a day which was just to much, a solution had to be found. So I searched around and found this design for chickens. It was bigger and had the wrong angle for their necks but with a little adjustments, the concept was perfect.
Take a tub with two long sides and a lid. Clear is good so you can see the level of the water and its quality. Get a few PVC pipe joints with 90 degree angles so the quail can reach the water, I used four. Drill four holes that are the same sizes as the PVC joint you are using. It should be snug with the joint. Push the joint in and fill with water and put the lid on. That is it!
This is a picture of the water after four days, I just had to refill a little water in there to keep the level up. I wanted to test it for a few days before posting.
They figured it out right away. I hope this post helps you and your flock.

Btw, those tubs are very sturdy. I have one exactly like that, but am using it for a vastly different purpose. (Related to dog walking... you don't want to know... Lol!)
