You killed her

Good day guys, this is a poem I just put together on the issue of domestic violence and sexual assaults going on in marriages, in homes and in our communities.... It is based on a true life story.

YOU KILLED HER

I know that look,I've gotten it numerous times
I know that look,the one that scares me out of my hide
The pain and the quiet
The hurt and the sorrow
Her meaningless power
His endless appetite
Every time,her scream makes me cower
Hiding till I knew it was over
And the look on his face that of a sated lover
He broke her and I was left to pick the pieces
Always going there to console after each session

Her sorrow gradually turned to hysterics
And her contact lens was forlorn
Her system shut down real quick
And he told the neighbors she was just a pipsqueak
She's recalcitrant and just wants attention, he claimed
Until the evidence of his abominations could not be contained
He joined the neighbors in asking
And continued hollering,each slap meted an indication of his cowardice
I was torn but my power was too small to take him on
He took her out one morning and when they returned all traces were gone
Her countenance and the liitle life she had left was gone,she was but a husk
I felt her cold but there was nothing to do to keep her warm
When I entered her room and she didn't rise up,I was at peace she was finally gone
Coward blamed her till the end

Now I'm getting lithe in contrast to her curves
And he has started looking with raised brows
She's growing,he's thinking
But if he thinks I'm going to give up without fighting
Then he must be mistaken
One of us is enough and for the life she lost I'm still torn
I know that look and I'm going to erase it along with all its forms.
