New Revolution in Logistics
The logistics industry has remained clinging to its traditional methods of transportation, which incorporate large workforce and costs, these methods depend on many factors, which can cause delays and adverse effects on transported products. Within those areas of vulnerability in logistics and traditional transport, a new possibility arises to avoid and reduce the negative impact of current systems, based on drone technology, which has an exponential potential.
Drones and their technology are currently restricted in many areas due to legal issues and lack of legislation. Leaders in the logistics and transportation industry, such as Amazon, have begun to experiment with this technology as a possible factor in their transportation system. According to CBS Amazon would be delivering goods to the door of its customers in about 30 minutes, this implies large reductions in delivery costs and labor force.
The possibility of using drones to achieve greater efficiency and productivity is something that is working in different parts of the world, an example of this is in Switzerland, where a couple of hospitals in that city are testing the use of drones To transport laboratory samples between them, this process will be becoming a regular one within their services by the year 2018.
This technology has not only been considered for the movement of merchandise and products, but it is being incorporated in the transportation of patients and victims, in Israel a drone ambulance was recently developed which is the size of a car and with the capacity to transport 1,100 pounds at a speed of 115 mph, in order to transport patients, medical equipment and military equipment, it will enter the market in 2020.
