Getting Stuff Done

in #art9 years ago

There is a certain pleasure in getting stuff done. Being able to cross something off your list and move onto the next thing is just invigorating and motivating. I never have an idle moment in the studio, staring at the canvas wondering what I am going to paint. This is in part due to me these days sticking with a particular artwork and seeing it all the way through to the end.

The best endings I like for my paintings are when I frame them and ship them to their new homes. Like this one, above. While I do like having my paintings hanging on the walls of my studio so I can reflect upon what I've done, making space for new artworks is very refreshing. It is also a bit of a life discipline, letting go of things to allow the new to come in.

It creates a great flow of energy in the studio, where the creativity builds upon itself. So, all in all, I'm having a great time in the studio.

Hope you're having a great day or night, where ever you are. =)

Love it too when I finish a painting and made it a habit to celebrate the moment with a nice cigar and a good drink. This way I just sit there for an hour, enjoying to look at the completed piece.

Although I should be used to letting my babies go by now, its becoming increasingly difficult...

Given the amount of crafting that goes into your works, I can understand your reluctance to part with your treasures. My solution to that is to let them hang in the studio for a time, so I get to enjoy them before they are sold.

There was a time when I would have done cigars, I did like them, but no more for me. But maybe we can do a cigar evening sometime. Special occasion. =)

I keep my works around me too, but with some I become almost like a kid, that doesn't want to share a toy... bit counter productive, when letting go is the foundation of your income.

Excellent idea with the special occasion. Its really time for a good long night talk (at the Australian bar)... I miss those. Too bad Vienna was just a quick touch down this time...

As I wrote in the article, I like letting them go, because it creates space for new ones.

Not sure when we'll next cross paths.

I should be "getting stuff done" instead of fooling around on the computer .... argh, I am on my way of becoming the type of nerd guy I always laughed at.

Revenge of the nerds! Well, isn't that our world in a nutshell today? The guys we laughed in the college frat films now run the world.
(whip crack!) Back to the salt mines Otto! 3:)

I used to be the whip-master at Satan's salt mines (says so on my FB profile) - now I will have to start flagellating myself lol

Set up a webcam and you might make some money Otto. ;-)

hahaha - good idea - maybe make it a podcast!

I guess that would make it a flogcast.

that idea takes me way back to my kinky days - in another life a few hundred years ago: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flagellant

Here's some inspiration. Make sure you watch it all the way through. ;-)

love your work.. following :-)

Cheers Erik! =)

To new projects then!! :D

I love the light reflecting upon her hair!

New projects! =)
Thank you Ruth!

Very beautiful and gentle painting 😍😊😊

Thank you Olgy. =)
Yes, sometimes I paint gentle.

So beautiful artwork, I love the shades of colors! I totally agree with you: "The best endings are when I frame them and ship them to their new homes." ^_^

Cheer Silvia!
Recently I've had collectors spontaneously send me images of their paintings hanging on the wall, just because they love what it brings to their space. That is the icing on the cake. =)

Great work!

Cheers Gavin!

This is gorgeous. Well done.

ah, another Aussie expat I see. Where do you find yourself these days?

I live in Panama. Will be in Brisbane this time next month for Christmas/NY though. Are you not in living in Australia either?

I've been kicking around Europe for the past 15 years.
Another Briz Vegas denizen. =)
What took you to Panama?

I wanted to live in a tax free tropical destination. Plus I trade US markets so the timezone works. And it's easy to get permanent residency here.

Hmmm... sounds attractive. I want to know more about such options.
Would you describe yourself as an anarchocapitalist?

beautifull painting!

I love the skin.

There is an artist that I follow who will paint many beautiful subjects but will sometimes film himself destroy the completed work. I think it’s brilliant and everyday I ponder over the ideas of attachment.

Also, thank you for the resteem! ^_^

Thank you @vermillionfox!

I guess this artist has quite a following then. People would be horrified and fascinated at the same time watching him destroy his works. Perhaps he enjoys teasing people.

You're welcome!

Yeah, I think he does pretty good for himself and he is a huge tease. I love it.

Oh, yeah, I know this artist. I follow him on Instagram. I'd forgotten some of these annihilation projects. He also did a huge wall mural on a building designated for demolition. He then documented the wrecking crane smashing down the wall with his mural on it.

😯 I've seen the murals but I did not see the wrecking part of it!
