Change - Between Endings and Beginnings

in #life9 years ago

We've all faced those periods in our lives, change, when something ends and then somewhere in the future a new beginning. That transitional period in between, is the one when we have entered our discomfort zone. A point in life when the familiar is dissolving and at some point start resolving into something else. Life becomes fluid. Here is where the adventure and magic forged.

But the written word is easier than the act. The written world stands on the pinnacle of a mountain called Theory. Even when the author of said word is writing of their experience in hindsight. For the written word is created for an audience, whether the author or another. And in that moment of reading, the audience is reading, conceptualising, imagining or remembering the act, but not engaged in doing.

We live in an age of armchair/digital screen experts. So many people have swallowed this false belief, that because they've seen the screen (less so printed word these days), the words, the images, the video, that they have experienced or lived it by proxy.

Vicariously living through other people's experiences gives a false sense of entitlement, creating the to the keyboard warrior. But these champions for change are bound to confines of a screen.

Change is not like that, it can be dirty, messy, painful, it can also be refreshing, uplifting, inspiring and uplifting... beyond the limits and confines of what we have known, beyond what we have lived, beyond what we have enacted. Real life, is blurry around the edges, shifting values of grey where definitions are lost and the rule book, just that, an inanimate book, on a playing field where life is racing off in various directions.

Change is sweat, tears and bloody knees. Change is exquisite ecstasy, a full belly laugh. Change is sitting at the restless waters edge, with your thoughts ebbing away, floating, drowning swimming until you sighed your last heavy sigh, stand with resolve and move.

Managing our change is then that decisive moment then, when we either decide then to move, to follow those thoughts awash in the water, or we walk away to face the living day.

It is the doing that is the change enabler. That is why when something troubles and fills our mind, that taking our thoughts for a walk often helps; we are doing, we are in action.

Change requires us to adapt. Change requires us to act.

So for now, my words end and I am going to act.
