Symptoms can vary from woman to woman therefore recognizing your own will make your period time easier. There are certain things you should avoid doing if you are suffering from any of those symptoms.

1. Eating too much salt and dairy


Even if it sounds tempting, the salt will make you bloat even more by holding the extra water in your body. Supply your body with minerals and vitamins by eating fruits and vegetables.
While calcium can help to ease the pain, you should avoid milk and cheese because they contain acid which can cause cramps. Find other sources of calcium such as almond milk smoothies or yogurt.

2. Watch sad movies


Every time during PMS you find yourself wondering ‘why am I such a cry baby’!? Well, that’s because your emotions are different due to hormone levels change. Spare yourself falling into emotional disaster and pick some good comedy.

3. Intensive work out


Let’s admit when you are experiencing stomach cramps all you want to do is curl up in bed. But if you are also a gym junkie you don’t want to skip the gym day. Go ahead, light training will benefit you in many ways. It will relieve the pain, it will make you drink more water and generally, make you feel better. Avoid lifting heavy weights or long runs on a treadmill. Good stretching or yoga will do the trick.

4. Having unprotected sex


Yes, a woman can conceive during her period. So if you aren’t planning to, use the protection.

5. Getting waxed or breast examination


Waxing can be painful more than usual due to high skin sensitivity. Waiting a day or two before hitting the salon will spare you the discomfort. The change in hormone levels also plays the part in pain during the breast examination.

6. Cigarettes and coffee


There’s no need to remind you that cigarettes are harmful to your body, no matter if you are bleeding or not, it’s a big no anyway. Coffee, on the other hand, can energize you but make sure to consume in moderate amount since it can prolong the cramps.

7. Assume that your friends or partner will understand your mood swings


Especially if you attend to be mean. It’s never cool. Explain what you are going through and save emotionally engaging conversations for later. Instead, go to your room and treat yourself with a good book or relaxing music.

8. Forgetting to change your pad or tampon


It happens easily if you are having a busy day. Be extra careful in case you are wearing the tampon since all the menstrual blood stays in your body and can cause bacterial infection. Change your protection every 3-4 hours and grab every opportunity to take a shower.
