GARDEN SPIDER for Butterfly & Insect Day 🕸️🕷️🕸️
Hello my Dearest Friends,
These two GARDEN SPIDERS, also called CROSS ORB WEAVERS, scientifically "Araneus diadematus" were hanging in our garden back in September. Although Halloween was yesterday, I think we are still in the spooky spirit, lol and that's why I decided to share them with you now. However, for some reason their back pattern was not very much noticeable, instead they seem to be much hairier than any of those I found online.
Anyway, one these beauties, the one on the first photo was working on his web between our property and our neighbor's. The other one was in our garden munching on a wasp, although, I wasn't able to take better close up of the half eaten corps. I really tried, but I couldn't get the right angle because the web was in the way.
Besides, I have a felling both of them are females. I didn't find anything about them being dangerous to humans, quite the opposite. They are beneficial having them in the garden since they feed on pests.

OMG! Much hairier?!?! Yikes! And you caught it red-handed. Way to go! I do like the webs that orb weavers weave and I know I should like them because they are beneficial, but my brain tells me to scream and run away. Great photos and thanks for using #insectpub and #butterflyday tags. : )
You are so funny my Dear @whatisnew, lol. They are actually more scared of us than we are of them. I went to see them the next day and only the one in our garden was there. I wanted to take better photo of her belly, but she didn't like it so she runaway and her hiding place. For some reason, they don't know when they are photographed from the back, but they know something is up when you face them.
Anyway, thank you so much, I am happy you like my scary spiders 😄
