Relationships are essential aspect that we need as human beings. We first became aware of relationship and learn how to relate with others from the very first people that we interacted with called family. Whether we grew up with a biological family or not, we came to experience and understand it in one way or another.

The environment we had influenced us majorly through the first circle of people who surrounded us from our innocence. And that social influence has grown or extended in the years of our existence as we have cliques, gangs, band, or work groups. And we develop friendships that lasted and did not last.

We get hurt, and we hurt others; yet we still have that part of us that long for a friend or friends. They are just part of our growing process. In this digital age, friendships can be faked and can be shallow. Although others have found lovers or friends thru online, some are not really fortunate to find true ones. But to find the right ones we must become the right friend first. Here are four ideal characteristics that you can keep in mind when trying to look for a friend or being one yourself.

Sense of humor

Who does not want to hang out with someone who makes you laugh? If you have a friend who can lighten up almost anytime, then you are lucky. Someone who has the ability to treat matters seriously when necessary and know how and when to light up in the midst of too serious issues without disregarding its importance.

Saying lines like, “I care for you”, “take care of yourself, “ I love you” while looking in the eyes of the person is different when it is just sent through text or through voice. As they say, the eye is the window of the soul. It may not happen 100%, but eye contact can reveal so much whether someone is honest or sincere with you.
