One photo a day challenge (287/365) all year long
For the past week or so I have been taking my african snack to work. I figured it’s better than buying KitKat every now and then. This is called locally called garri. It’s a root plant common in many west African diets. The way it is made is with a cassava root that is grated and dried or roasted. It is then fried with palm oil. This food is starch and a great source of energy and keeps you full and did I mention it is a great energy source?
This is my soaked garri at work today.
Here’s garri before i add water to it.
Here’s what cassava root looks like-
Another name for cassava is manioc, yuca or Brazilian arrowroot.
The other day I bought juice and they had tapioca/ cassava balls at the bottom . I was quite suprised to see how versatile this root vegetable can be.
Wow!!!
It paste look tasty
I have never seen any person so pround of soaking garri like you just did today. Every many of us back home dont even soak garri in the publick let alone go and soak it at work.
Well Done @leggy23... My respect and likeness for you is increasing daily
It's a different environment, here no one cares too much about what you eat.
Looks very healthy food. Thanks for sharing.
Sure, thanks for stopping by.
hai leggy !! thanks for sharing your great energy source african snack.
I just finished my own gaari some weeks back. Not that available here in Mex. So I will be starved of it for some times.
That's why i don't want to move too far away from my current area. Many african stores around. I bet you can order some garri online from some african store.
that ordering sounds perfect.
Really amazing #africa n food photography by @leggy23
