Chocolate Hills, Bohol, Philippines.

The Chocolate Hills in the Philippines are not, tragically, made of candies. These hills are more of a feast for the eyes than the tastebuds. These uniform pieces of earth are outwardly dazzling, however the way that nobody knows how they shaped is, maybe, significantly cooler.

You can visit the Chocolate Hills in the town of Carmen on the island of Bohol in the Philippines. One of the nation's most prevalent vacation destinations, these hills are scattered over a 50 square kilometer region. What's more, they beyond any doubt aren't ant colonies—each of the at least 1,200 hills stands 30– 50 meters tall. In the dry season, the hills take on the chocolate dark colored shading that earned them their name. The wet season draws out the green grass.

All in all, where'd they originate from? No one knows. There are several of them, and they're all shockingly and unexplainably uniform. As indicated by Bohol.ph, "The most commonly accepted theory is that they are the weathered formations of a kind of marine limestone on top of impermeable layer of clay."

Trivia

Here are four local exlanations:

From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocolate_Hills

  1. One legend holds that these hills framed after ancient giants tossed sand at each other in a battle that kept going days. Too exhausted to continue, the giants became friends and left the island and their mess behind, which formed the hills.

  2. Another legend recounts a giant named Arogo. He began to look all starry eyed at a mortal young lady named Aloya. At the point when Aloya passed away, Arogo cried and cried. His tears dried and shaped the Chocolate Hills.

  3. The third legend reviews a giant carabao (a bull-like creature) that ate all the island's harvests. To free the island of the creature, local people heaped up hills of ruined nourishment. The creature ate the nourishment, which agitate its stomach, and it, erm, ousted the matter into vast stunning hills.

Before we drown ourselves in an interesting fantasy, as a general rule obviously: this didn't occur. Be that as it may, I figure this is a cool clarification to provide for tourists than saying: "We don't generally know how they precisely are formed." I say this in light of the fact that there is very agreement yet with respect to how the hills have shaped.

Hmmm... don't take a gander at me, I'm no scientist so those are only the best explanation I can give.
