I took the Puguis to Tam-awan route for my walk today. This will be along that route so I took the opportunity to eat there.
I thought I must have missed it but then I saw the signage. I was saved. I haven't had any before heading out and I have walked quite a distance by then so it was a relief when I finally arrived.
I was warmly greeted as I enter the place. That sets me in a good mood. I ordered for chicken and rice and then took photos while I waited.
Dalikan means a stove particularly a clay stove as displayed in the restaurant.
You use wood or coal to cook using a dalikan. I grew up cooking on this. Always smoke gets in your eyes. We would scoop the ashes later on and distribute it to the plants or use smear it on the bottom of the pot before using it to cook on a dalikan so that the soot will be easier to remove when washing the pot after use.
I lile the use of bamboo as wall decor. It is very resourceful, ingenious way of using indigenous materials.
The tin cups and the clay pot brings back memories. We used to have cups like that at my grandparents' home and I always remember drinking hot drink using a cup like that or a cool water from a clay pot or banga.
My order was served and it was a lot of serving. I was of the thought that it will be just like the normal serving from other restaurants. I almost did not consume the rice because of how plenty it is.
I love how the plate compliments the chunk of wood the chicken is served upon.
The chicken is cooked well. I did not taste a lot of saltiness, seasoning or other spices which is good. The slices of cucumer are fresh and juicy and the squeeze of lemon is just about the right zest it needs.
This also comes with free soup which is great as well.
Overall, it was a breakfast fulfilling and satisfying. It would be nice to come back here for coffee and I am looking forward to trying out there other food.
I forgot to take a photo of their menu. I guess that is how hungry I was. The price is average and worth it.
They do have books also to keep you busy.
They also sell chilli oil which I was given one for free. How generous! I still have yet to taste that though.
Dalikan Restaurant is located at #4 Tam-awan Long Long Road. This is just a few meters away from the Petron gasoline station.
