The camphor tree, whose scientific name is cinnamomum camphora, is a species of evergreen tree native to China south of the Yangtze River, Taiwan, southern Japan, Korea, India, and Vietnam.

It is also commonly known as camphor or camphor tree and has been introduced into many other countries.

Its leaves have a glossy, waxy appearance. And when crushed, it smells of mothballs.

In spring, camphor laurel bears bright green leaves and clusters of small white flowers.

Camphor has been used for centuries as a culinary spice, an aromatic ingredient, and a medicine.
