Japanese Stone Oak (Lithocarpus Edulis)
The Japanese stone oak (Japanese: matebashii), botanically named Lithocarpus edulis, is an evergreen tree of the beech family.
The leaves are densely alternating, elliptical, with the edges whole. The skin blade is thick, with a smooth surface, dark green and shiny in color, and gray on the back.
The trunk is light grayish brown with a smooth surface and longitudinal stripes, growing into a tree with no low branches.
The tree's large, dense foliage makes it ideal for highway side plantings because of its soundproofing when arranged in rows and its resistance to air pollution.
