Who lives in the soil

For many centuries, since the birth of agriculture and plant growing, the soil interested man as a source of "fruits of the earth", i.e. food products. And in our time, about 98-99% of food man gets as a result of agriculture and livestock, using the fertility of the soil.
Soil is a completely independent natural historical body, which is the product of the aggregate activity of soil, climate, vegetation and animal organisms, the age of the country, and partly the terrain.
Modern soil science considers the soil not only as a special body that possesses fertility, but also as a polyfunctional natural system that affects other natural systems and ensures the cyclical nature of the reproduction of life on Earth.
Soil is a unique habitat for a variety of organisms. It is striking to imagine their quantity in a unit of volume or mass
(1 g of soil can be up to several billion bacteria, hundreds of meters of fungal hyphae, hundreds of thousands of unicellular animals) and diversity. It is established that more than 90% of the species are represented by organisms living in the soil in whole or in part.
