Ninth on the list is Maina ka patta as is the name in the local tongue.It took me all total 30 minutes just to find its scientific name and the name is Caladium. This is one of the many variety I have in my garden.These plants are quite robust and this I can assure you from my personal experience.These plants in my garden are right next to a mango tree and I did not like this fact. But no matter how many times I try to remove all the leafs and disrupt the roots it would simply regrow. Currently it is of size and colour as you see in the photo. The plant is decorative in nature and does not bore a flower or a fruit.

The plant also has a local tradition where the leaves are used to celebrate a periodic event called "Madhur Sravani" which happens in the saavan or the spring month each year. The celebration is done by the newly wed female where they pray , fast, feast and listen to different stories which has deep meaning. All these are to wish for a successful marriage.

That is true. What is unique is that you can try cutting as deep as possible which would mean it would take some 2-2.5 weeks to regrow but it still does. I have seen this rarely in any other plant. It has some great energy storage capacity.
