'Remembered' - a Short Poem

to be a blackbird
strutting
on the sill
that rings a flat roof
(one of Stevens’
thirteen-
ways to pose)
await the flash
and shutter,
lift off
at unrendered
sky
anonymous,
an eye for worms

Thanks for reading.

It is a simple, free, but limited life to be a bird. Worms on the menu ... you say:)
Yes, so often they end up in my poems without me even realising - an endlessly giving image in my mind, and for the most part beautiful creatures.
Worms on the menu, or on a menu for worms... :0
depends on when you tune in:)
A careful observer you are to summarize the text of the living picture of the bird, and also a hand of poetry. I've enjoyed reading this piece, and I think it has helped me solve a huge problem I’ve had to complete a poem of my own (about a crow).
Thanks Marlyn, glad you liked it, and even more glad to be of service in whatever small way this may have helped :) I look forward to reading it - hopefully - soon!
I see the bird strutting on the limb, what an amazing poem. I love when the imagery captures me this way... I lift off with the blackbird in flight. Well done!
Thank you Janelle, appreciate you stopping by!
