Time-management - Do you believe in fate?

in #life4 years ago

Time-management is the art of rational use of time in order to improve your performance. That is, how to live “25 hours a day”. A very popular trend in the business environment, which allows you to literally "squeeze the last juice" from yourself and your subordinates. It would seem that everything is not bad, but after several years of studying and teaching it in trainings, there was a feeling of leaving the true path.

That is, as if we were going right, but the road is very winding. After analyzing what exactly confuses me, I came to the conclusion that Time-management is not devoid of a number of shortcomings, which will be discussed later.

Delving into the topic of this doctrine, I found many critical publications about it. Apparently, their authors acted according to the principle I voiced at the beginning of the article. They showed the complete inefficiency of Time-management for creative people, accused it of inhuman exploitation of the people, of the desire of employers to load their subordinates with a lot of work for the same money, etc.

Honestly, after all this, I somehow even felt sorry for Time-management and really wanted to stand up for it, because, like any other tool, it can be useful if used skillfully.

To be honest, I had the pleasure of interacting with a few zealous time management devotees . One got the impression that they even go to the toilet on schedule. It felt like I was in the future and communicating with cyborgs. This is more likely not a flaw in Time-management, but the specificity of individual people who live according to the principle of a “broken forehead from prayer”.

Sometimes, getting a high-quality tool in hand, a person succumbs to the temptation to use it wherever possible. I strongly do not recommend doing this, because even the sharpest knife will "dull" from fanatical exploitation. If you overextend your body with excessive optimization, this will only entail depression and stress, which will negatively affect the further performance of a person.

And this is purely my "pebble in the garden" of Time-management. The fact is that, like all people who first learn about Time-management, at first I too eagerly absorbed all its principles and recommendations. So he himself hated chronophages (time eaters) and loved with all his soul the keepers of time.

And then I became thoughtful ... Accidentally being at the training on Time-management, I asked its host a question - "Do you believe in fate?" In response, silence ... Now I will try to explain why it was said.

In addition to bad habits, which in any case need to be abandoned, everything that distracts us from the central strategy of life is ranked as chronophages. Let me demonstrate with an example. Let's say some ambitious young man comes to get a job in the company of his dreams. Passing by the watchman (receptionist) - an elderly woman of a rather impressive size, he did not consider it necessary to say hello to her.

And he missed the fact that the woman timidly asked to hang the picture that had fallen away. Where there! It is better to spend this minute on affirmations in the waiting room, setting yourself up for success and irresistibility. After him, a less optimized guy entered the building and helped the "chronophagus" with the painting. Came "hour H", but the director invited all applicants to come another time. Suddenly, a watchman came into the waiting room, who, as it turned out, turned out to be a distant relative of the director and, seeing her assistant, rushed to praise him to the leader. Do you think the minutes spent paid off or not? ..

And now we return to the question of fate and the destination associated with it. I think each of us has come across situations when the decision came from a completely unexpected side. And, for example, having studied to be a teacher for years, a person eventually became a famous artist, designer or politician. And all because at one fine moment he did not pass by the "chronophage" and, having spent his time on it, radically changed the course of events. Or maybe, on the contrary, he acquired his true purpose .

A person obeys the laws of living nature and society. He can be the master of his life only up to a certain point. Further, the possessions of "His Majesty Chance" begin. Sometimes, instead of rushing somewhere, you should exhale and carefully analyze your life. Perhaps what we are striving for is already near?

In fact, auspicious moments surround us like apples hanging from a tree above Newton's head. According to legend, one of these fruits initiated the Law of Gravity. But should we, like Newton, wait for "our apple", maybe it makes sense to shake the apple tree and thereby open a couple more laws and the way to the nearest emergency room?

Jokes as a joke, but potential opportunities sometimes appear under our very noses, it remains only to develop clear mechanisms for their detection.
