I recently traveled with my family to our neighboring Big Island of Hawaii and we caught some amazing lava!

I never thought that an active volcano could consume me with such feelings of peace but the billows of sulfuric acid spilling out all around us as our boat driver nearly beached us beside active lava flow had me dizzy with feelings of utter tranquility. My wee boy was squealing beside me watching it all as we circled and approached this giant active mountain mad w/ new life spilling out all around us into the sea, yelling at the boat driver "If you get us any closer we're all going to be sacrifices!" quickly followed by "This is the best day of my life!" It was the utter yin and yang of it all wrapped up all at once.
Our 5 year old nailed the whole experience. We all screamed at the moon jumping and slamming huge waves all the way back to our shore after the mountain showed us it's insides and created new earth.

Exploring the ancient tubes around the mountains and giant high mountain peaks were just spell binding having been on the flat lands of Guam for the past 7 years. Experiencing the light in the rainforests cover the ancient vegetation was just serene. Watching this newer island still active in it's creation process and exploring it with our wee young scientist was an experience to write about for sure. I hope you enjoy what we attempted to capture there. We were humbled by you Big Island~ we'll take you to our dreams forever.

Wow, right place at the right time! Hawaii is on my list of places to travel and this just got me even more excited to visit.

Amazing photos!! Also your photos are not showing up in the feed, you have to click into your post. I’m not sure why? Unless it’s just my view?

Oh wow~ so weird, thank you. Still attempting to figure this all out.

It's just a rare but known bug that will be fixed soon. I see you 'fixed' it for now by putting another picture at the top, that's a good workaround for now.

thanks Justin, um this place is wonderful! the access to people and images from all over the world is so much more intense than face space! cheers:)

Thanks for your wonderfully descriptive story about the Big Island, Lauren!! The pics are so vivid and gorgeous, and what a great adventure for all of you! :)

Ok we’re definitely coming to Hawaii soon! I want to experience this! Incredible Lauren!

I want to take a helicopter tour around the volcanos
