Saving the GRAPES !!
This is a story about how Swiss Winery's had to save their wine-grapes in the very unusual, cold nights we had this spring.
The weather in Switzerland was strange this year. We had changes from very hot to very cold inner short times, what is not typical for Switzerland.
There was a weather forecast for the coming night, it said that it's going to be subzero-temperatures.
For the Grapes it was a very critical situation. They were in a growing-state where they are very sensitive. If it's getting too cold, they could all freeze and that would mean the lost of the whole harvest.
The wine-growers had to save their Grapes..
So they tried to heat up with fire stations between the vines..
They set up hundrets of fire stations:
Others tried to prevent freezing by watering..
I am not sure, but as far as I know, they could save a big part of their Grapes :)

They do the same thing down in south Texas with the citrus crops, put a bunch of fire pots out in the orchards to warm the trees up just enough from freezing.
The bright spot is , they hardly ever get a hard freeze down there!
The pictures are pretty amazing, must take so much work to make sure the grapes don't freeze on an off year.
Oh yeah, it's much work.. ;)
Damn seems like a hell of a lot of work
