What Is The Real Meaning Of The Cross Of Christ!

in #steemchurch6 years ago

The meaning of the cross is the place of fullness, of manifestation, of fulfillment. Understanding the meaning of the cross is to penetrate the door that leads us to the mysteries hidden in God, to the most extraordinary wealth of His Kingdom. It is on the cross that the most extraordinary aspects of wisdom are conjugated in God. The revelation of His infinite love is there, the culmination of the truths hidden in His humiliation, they are drunk on the cross. The entrance to the highest levels of light, of resurrection is there also; and also, the door to the highest dimensions of His truth.
What the cross means in the bible

For many people, the cross is the symbol of Christianity, but not all believe that it should be worn or hung in homes or in churches.

Jesus was executed "by hanging him on a tree" (Acts 5:30) "The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree". In the Bible two terms were used to refer to the instrument where Jesus was killed; and both words refer to a single piece of wood, not two. The Greek word stauros "denotes, primarily a stick or right stake. It was nailed in them (in these stakes) to the evildoers to execute them ". And regarding the word, used in Acts 5:30, a work explains that both this term and its equivalent in Hebrew "do not properly mean what we understand by the cross, but a simple wood".

The Bible also relates the method of execution of Jesus with a law of ancient Israel. The law said: (Deuteronomy 21: 22-23) "If someone has committed a crime worthy of death, and you make him die hanging on a tree, you will not let his body spend the night on the tree; without fail you will bury the same day, because cursed by God is the hung. God. So you will not pollute the land that Jehovah your God gives you as an inheritance. " Referring to that law, the apostle Paul wrote that Jesus became "a curse instead of us, because it is written: (Galatians 3:13)" Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree. " Paul, therefore, indicated that Jesus died on a simple wooden pole.

The true meaning of the cross

There is no greater treasure than learning to immerse ourselves in the power and meaning of the cross, in every part of its excellent sacrifice and its sufferings. There are rivers of living water, torrents of revelation, which is their resplendent light. The Apostle Paul understood this, and that is why he gave everything.

Everything I esteemed for garbage, in order to know Him and the power of his resurrection and the participation of his sufferings, to be able to grasp that for which he was also grabbed.

So deep and so marvelous is everything that is meticulously hidden in every drop of his shed blood and of the water of life that comes mixed with the vital fluid, in the meaning of the cross, are hidden the most amazing revelation mysteries that Jesus has for those who want to look for him,
The Apostle Paul lived this truth, and it was his burning desire to live crucified together with Christ, so that everything that Jesus was manifested through his being.

(2 Corinthians 4:10) "Carrying in the body always everywhere the death of Jesus, so that also the life of Jesus may be manifested in our bodies."

He said: (2 Corinthians 4: 17-18) "For this slight momentary affliction produces in us an ever more excellent and eternal weight of glory; not looking at us the things that are seen, but about the things that are not seen; for the things that are seen are temporary, but the things that are not seen are eternal. "

The meaning of the cross of Christ

Jesus had to be similar in everything to us, in order to be our intercessor and our High Priest. For this, he had to be taken to the place of reproach and reproach. Calvary was not a glorious place as the artists of the Renaissance paint it, it was the place of the damned, it was the place next to the garbage dump of the city, where the most detestable and disgusting criminals were executed.

Source

This was the place where He chose to die for us. There He was counted with the transgressors. This means that he was seen as one equal to them, one equal to us. On the cross He exposed sin, He carried in His body the record that was contrary to us. In every blow of his face, in every wound of his body, in every lash, in every sore, in the holes made by the nails, in his forehead torn by the thorns, the sins of all of us are inscribed.

How did the light begin to be produced through the cross?
The meaning of the cross and its nailed body, was a bare act bringing to light all the transgressions. The cross is the exposition of sin. The cross is to come to the reproach, to be stripped, to be exposed. This is where the vessel is broken and the cross begins to manifest. This is what undid the devil, the awesome humiliation of Christ. Naked from His clothes, removing sin from every concealed place and exposing it openly on the cross.

(1 John 1: 5-7) "This is the message we have heard from Him, and we announce to you; God is light and there is no darkness in Him. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and we do not practice the truth; but if we walk in light, as He is in light, we have fellowship with one another, and the Blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin. "

In many places there is no communion between one and the other. Divisions, jealousy, jealousy, and lack of love is what is seen to abound from the very bosom of a local Church.

How then can we say that we are light? Notice how it is that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin: when we walk in light and as a result of walking in the light, we have communion with one another. The passage of John continues saying: (1 John 1: 8-10) "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. "

In the Epistle of James we also find this word "confess": (James 5:16) "Confess our sins to one another."

That symbolizes the cross according to the bible

The meaning of the cross symbolizes, the confession of sins between one and the other, as Santiago shows, is the most genuine form of liberation and deep cleansing of our soul. It does not mean that you will confess your sins to everyone, you must have the wisdom to discern who should confess your sins, I suggest you do it to an authority, pastors, spiritual parents, who can give you advice and guide from the hand of the Mr. Although what James speaks is to confess publicly the sins, that the darkness that is in us is exposed so that we have the victory and the authority, that we are truly light.

The same etymology of the word "confess" means "to speak publicly." We use this same word when someone comes to salvation and we tell him to make public his declaration of faith. (Romans 10:10) "Because with the heart one believes for Justice, but with the mouth one confesses for salvation".
This means that speaking in front of everyone what your heart believes about Jesus. Why then, when the same word is used for the confession of sins, do we think it has to be done secretly so that no one knows what we have done? If Jesus was stripped of his clothes and exposed to the public light the sin of the world and publicly defeated the principalities and powers, why do we want to have victory in the occult? How can the sin of the Church be redeemed if sin does not come to light?

Did not Jesus say about the Kingdom? As the Father sent me, so also I send you. And having said this, he breathed, and said to them: (John 20: 21-23) "Receive the Holy Spirit. To whom you remit sins, they are confiscated; and to whom you retain them, they are retained. "
What does this all mean? Why does the Proverb say: (Proverbs 28:13) "He who conceals his sins will not prosper; but he who confesses them and withdraws will obtain mercy. " ?

These passages of the Bible clearly tell us that sins must be confessed and exposed to light, just as Christ was exposed on the cross. The meaning of the cross for us must be valued and we must take that example to confess and turn away from the sins that today are those that make us slaves.

The confession is to come to the light, it is to come to the place where the devil can no longer threaten you and where his accusations are undone. The devil has no power over his life when you come to the light truthfully, when he goes out to reproach, as Jesus went out to reproach. When you are stripped of the garments of sin, exposing it to light, just as Jesus was stripped, and exposed himself in the place of the damned. If He went out to the place of shame, why do we want to protect ourselves?
so that nobody thinks badly of us?

History: the meaning of the cross
What does the story tell us? Every great revival has begun by men and women who understood this principle. Every time the glory of God has come upon a place, it is because a wave of repentance and confession of sin preceded it. Those who have read or hear about Charles Finney say that in their meetings he spoke so strongly about sin that literally the flames of hell felt under his feet.
When Aimee Semple McPherson preached, people fell into ecstasy, some saw Heaven and others felt that they were swallowed by hell, and they shouted repentance for their sins.

Why is it humiliating to go to the death of the cross?

Because that's where everyone looks at you as the lowest. This is the place that Jesus chose. He preferred to be counted on sinners, instead of the great ones of this world. Today, if there is a fallen, misunderstood or beaten brother and you join him to help him or love him, the advice they give you is: "Better get away from him, do not leave your testimony dirty if they see you with brothers like that " But Jesus preferred that they should hide his face from Him, that they should regard Him as dejected, as a man without a reputation, despised and rejected by men, despised and without esteem, but loved and walking in the truth.

To speak the truth about ourselves, to recognize our sins, our failures, our wrong decisions, is to walk in the light.

Confessing sin to others keeps us humble and is highly honorable before God. He who humbles himself will be exalted and he who exalts himself will be humbled.

We are all human, we are all wrong, we all sin and we can all be forgiven and redeemed by the redeeming grace of Christ. Repenting and talking about their sins was not a problem either for the primitive Church or for the men of God in the Old Testament. There was a very different understanding of what this meant. They had the preeminence in God. What God thought was the most important thing, not what the man thought; Nowadays it seems that it is the other way around. You do not see, for example, a tremendous lawsuit between Peter and the authors of the Gospels, because they published his sin in perpetuity when he denied Christ. I think they talked with Pedro, and he must have said: "If of course, write about this, it is necessary that what I did is an example for others."

The same thing when Luke writes about Peter, saying about him was worth condemning his behavior with the Gentiles. You do not see that Paul conceals his sin, before he speaks of himself as an abortifacient. Nor does he see that David dismisses Samuel from his position for writing and making public his sin. David was a man according to the heart of God. Confessions of their sins and failures are seen everywhere in the Psalms. He himself wrote to have his confession published, and how he felt before God.

(Psalm 51: 1-14) "Have mercy on me, O God, according to your mercy; according to the immenseness of your compassion, erase my transgressions. Wash me completely from my wickedness, and cleanse me from my sin. Because I recognize my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, I have only sinned against you and done evil in front of your eyes, so that you are just when you speak, and without reproach when you judge. Behold, I was born in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me. Behold, you desire the truth in the most intimate, and secretly you will make me know wisdom. Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me and I'll be whiter than snow. Make me hear joy and gladness, that the bones that you have broken may rejoice. Hide your face from my sins, and erase all my iniquities. Believe in me, O God, a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not drive me away from you, and do not take your Holy Spirit from me. Restitúyeme the joy of your salvation and sustain me with a spirit of power. Then I will teach the transgressors your ways, and the sinners will turn to you. Deliver me from crimes of blood, O God, God of my salvation; then my tongue will sing with joy your justice. " (Paraphrase of the author)

Notice how the perspective, David's point of view is so different from what we have. For David it was not important how he saw himself before men, but that God was recognized as righteous in his Word and held pure in His Judgment.

David knew that if he humbled himself and made his sin public by writing it and it would remain in perpetuity. God would be exalted and give him as a reward to preach the truth, and that people would really come at the feet of God, repentant and convicted of sins. At least this is what we should want, to preach Jesus and for people to truthfully change their ways.

Here we can pretend that we are immaculate saints, who never made any mistakes, and men will put you on high and write about you; but in Heaven it is seen and written differently. Next to each one of us there is an angel who writes day and night the book of our life.
(Revelation 20:12) "And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before God; and the books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged by the things that were written in the books, according to their works. "
Today the calls to repentance that are made in the churches, are considered by the believers as something shameful. The unconverted pass and a few more, and the rest of the Church sits as if we all believe that in all these immobile people there is no more sin. It is more important that men consider us "perfect" than what God is seeing of us.

For God there are no more wonderful moments than when we run to the altar to confess our sins. For Him it is the most beautiful party. When we confess our sins and repent, there is a festival of angels in the heavens. For God it is not shameful that we go and repent every day, if necessary. Each time we do it, He is recognized right in His Word and pure in His Judgment. We sin in so many ways, oh saints of God! Every time we limit the Spirit, we sin. This is why it is important to understand the meaning of the cross of Christ that gives us total freedom and victory over sin.

The meaning of the cross to confess sins
Confess our sins for Him is the most beautiful party.
Every time we put our religious structures and cut off the freedom to what God wants to do, we sin. Every time we can move by faith, we choose human methods to solve things, we sin. Every time we accept any reproach against the brother, when we respect persons. When we see the brother in need and close our hearts against him. and every time we choose to protect our reputation instead of taking steps of love; and love, sometimes it has a very high price. When we forget about orphans and widows, even in our own churches. When our material desires in this world are priorities, that the work of God or the remembrance of the poor. And to this list I add jealousy, jealousy, quarrels, divisions, judging others and all the works of the flesh, in addition to the terrible abominations.

Do you really believe beloved brother, that someone can sit on the bench because he really has no sin? Is not it time to please God and speak truth to one another, and take off the masks that everyone knows we have? Meditate on this and determine to walk in new levels of light, and bring all your sins to the Cross of Christ.

Very good written @laramrm. In Christianity, the cross is the meeting of God's love and his justice. Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). The reference of Jesus as the Lamb of God, points to the institution of the Jewish Passover in Exodus 12. The Israelites were commanded to sacrifice a lamb without spot and anoint the blood of the lamb on the lintels and the poles of their houses . The blood would be the signal for the angel of death to "pass over" that house, leaving those covered in blood safe. When Jesus came to John to be baptized, John recognized him and said: "Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29); therefore, John identified Jesus and God's plan for Him to be sacrificed for sin.

I'm so touched by this post.
Jesus Christ is so wonderful for have chosen to die for our sins.He is so wonderful and we are so lucky. The cross has made us victorious over the devil. What a Victory.

Christ didn't die on the cross for nothing. it was his death of the cross that brought about our salvation. Today we those who have believed in His name and have surrendered our life to him have an asusrance of salvation. Thanks to God for the death of Jesus on cross, it has indeed given us hope in this life and the life after. Bless you @laramrm

We need to keep seeing the cross as a place for true repentance by always remembering the humiliation and pain that Jesus went through just to give us life that is worth living and the finished work that grant us access to God the father.

Thanks for enlighten us on the meaning of the cross "Jesus had to be similar in everything to us, in order to be our intercessor and our High Priest. Love the way you posed the question......God bliss you for keeping us on track because the cross is man freedom

What about you? Have you ever been to the Cross and really opened your heart to Jesus Christ? You may be a good person, a moral person, a church person, but you are not sure that you really know Christ as your Lord and your Savior. I’m going to ask you to make that commitment to Christ.

The criss means that christ is the focal point and he is the only way that our heart should be concentrated in .
To be with the criss in the Lord means to have him in our hearts and be ready to do all things through him and in him in all we do all days no matter the condition we find our self

It's a place of redemption!
