Travel is Glorious!........Right?
Good Evening Steemit
Tonight I am typing away at a hotel. Not my comfy home, or a tent in the forest. Not even from a camper in a secluded campground, a hotel.
Why? Because this is my "job." I travel with work a few times a month. And, since my territory is North America, you can say I get around a bit..haha But want to know a big secret???? It's not as great as it may seem.
Honestly, I push myself to the max. I cram in every site visit I can. I take the crappy flights because those are typically the ones that work best. And by the time I finish up a day, I'm beat. It truly takes some major work to get out and sight-see after I've traveled all day....and sometimes, all week.
Honestly, I enjoy experiencing things with my family and friends. I've visited many places alone, but it just doesn't excite me. Sure, my friends and bust me all the time.."Oh, San Diego?? Must be nice?" or "Salt Lake City? You'll love it there!" But they just don't get it.
Please don't get me wrong, I am truly grateful for the opportunity I have to provide for my family, but it's lonely out here on the road. hahaha
So there it is. Nothing flashy, cool, hip, or whatever the kids are calling it these days.
I'm planning on taking a trip just for me next year. I have the destination locked, now I need some dates and accommodations.
If you've made it this far tonight, I thank you for reading.
Cheers!
Tim
I can’t even imagine traveling a couple times a year for work. Is there any way you wouldn’t have to?
Not really. It’s a long story.
I actually love my job...it’s just the traveling side that gets to me. The positive is that I basically schedule the travel myself, and I’m the driver of those activities, so I can regulate, however, it still needs to be done.
