It's the little things that matter...

Good Evening Friends!

Sometimes what matters most are the things we fail to notice. As we walk through our lives we tend to focus on the big, and sometimes obvious details rather than the many small parts that make life what it actually is all about. These small things, when acknowledged, can sometimes change your entire point of view.

This evening, as a wrestle with decisions of my own, I find myself thinking again about the details I may have failed to notice. It kind of reminds me of the hike I went on this summer. I took many pictures: Tall old trees, a waterfall, a large pond with the almost obnoxious sight of the cattails outlining the overgrown bank, and of course, some wildlife.

But, its what I noticed as I sat down for a snack that really got me thinking once again about the "little things."

This water lily:

It seemed to be perfectly placed on still water for me to notice.

But what else have I missed??? I stood back up and began to look closely at my surroundings. There were so many details that I somehow didn't notice just a few minutes earlier.

Then, the spiderweb:
(If you look closely, you can even see the little guy using the leaf in the center as a home.)

As I was walking toward the web, I almost stepped on this little gem:

And, just as I was about to leave I heard a faint sound in the leaves and discovered a little toad making a run for it:

So, in closing I'd just like to say that you should take the time to notice the little things. Whether faced with a decision, or enjoying a walk, consider everything. They all matter.
