A tribute to Papa
It was a bright cold day in October, and the clock is striking nine.
I curse death, for stealing what was supposed to be mine.
From our lives, oh father you’ve departed without farewell, just cries.
It trembles and broke me, “Oh God! Let me die”.
And though the sun is shining and the sky a harsh blue,
there seemed to be no color in anything without you.
A sight of you in deep, unsound sleep makes me so sad.
I was standing in shocked, been a statue for a minute or two.
Tears burst forth, spills down my face.
Bitterness in my heart I have irrefutably taste.
Oh father I long for your embrace
You were my best friend and my soldier, the day I was born.
You have defended me in every disastrous storm.
Unconditional love, you’ve undeniably shown.
Your smile creates the warmth in my soul
In every success you were my every reason.
