Euthanasia for children!

in #children9 years ago

My evening was already ruined after learning of the death of little Charlie Gard, the British boy suffering from a rare disease, whose parents have fought a useless battle to have him treated in the United States. The British doctors had secured yesterday the Court's approval to have the child moved to hospice and had announced there will no more delays. They would pull the plug as quickly as possible. Enough is enough! Let's be done with this kid already! Which they did, today!

Sleep tight,little angel!

I wasn't going to write about this story anymore because it makes me sick! I'd just browse the Internet, instead. Until I found something equally disgusting.
An article by a "scientist" advocating euthanasia for severely deformed children.
"If you are allowed to abort a fetus that has a severe genetic defect, microcephaly, spina bifida, or so on, then why aren’t you able to euthanize that same fetus just after it’s born?” asks ecology and evolution professor Jerry Coyne.
“I see no substantive difference that would make the former act moral and the latter immoral,” the professor continued.
“After all, newborn babies aren’t aware of death, aren’t nearly as sentient as an older child or adult, and have no rational faculties to make judgments (and if there’s severe mental disability, would never develop such faculties).”

This scumbag, who probably earns a ton of money while spreading his disgusting theories at the University of Chicago, is convinced “some day the practice [of killing disabled newborns] will be widespread, and it will be for the better".
No question of seeking treatment for disabled babies, no reference to the many kids that were deemed hopeless at birth yet made spectacular recoveries, no discussion about how could you even define disabled. Kill them all.
If you think that parents' wishes would naturally be taken into account and respected, read Charlie Gard's story again. His parents were denied a say. Even worse, some "experts" went as far as to declare parents, generally speaking, have no rights over their children, only duties. (There was an article in The Guardian that said exactly that, but at this point I'm really to tired to look for it.)
This is the sick world we live in!

Sort:

The story of how Charlie and his parents have been treated is indeed vile and disgusting. The courts have literally deemed Charlie to be owned by the crown, like a simple possession, most certainly not the flesh and blood of his parents. It is indeed a very sick world we live in.

Why is euthanasia illegal for adults be legal for children

Indeed, especially in the UK there's a great debate on whether to allow assisted suicide for adults and there's great opposition to the idea. Apparently, to some it's ok to dispose of kids as doctors see fit.

The world's right and wrong scale is definitely skewed. Who comes up with these policies? This is not supposed to be.

I wonder what will become of this world of our in 20 years time. What kind of world will my children raise their kids in?

It's scary to think of, but I still have hopes that humanity will prevail

Few things make me very angry, this is one of them, I can not believe the words of Professor Jerry Coyne. The world is head, dear friend @ladyrebecca

And he is not the only one to say succh vile things.
