Game of the Year from 2004-2022 || Part 2 || Tron Fan Club
Greetings everyone. How is everyone doing? Hopefully everyone is doing okay and having a good time in TFC.
In the first part, we discussed about some of the renowned games from years 2004-2006. Some of the amazing games made their debut in this period of time. Specially GTA San Andreas still has an effect in to open world games due to it's amazing story and quite a big open world with lots to explore. This game got a remastered version not so long ago. The same goes with Resident Evil 4. This game was ahead of it's time also. Due to the popularity of these two games, they got the remastered versions released with modern graphics again. Although I didn't played Resident Evil 4 yet. Hopefully I shall give it a try someday in the future.
But let's keep them aside for now and let's get introduced to some of the most popular games that came between 2007 to 2009. A lot of popular games came to the mainstream between this 3 years. But very few of them is still remembered by the fans. Not all games have the elements required to be memorable for over a decade. But games like Red Dead Redemption 1 has an exception. This game is still considered one of the best games ever created and is still played by many. RDR 1 got a remastered version few months back this year. But it got released only for consoles which is why I couldn't try it out on PC. But given the reviews, it is indeed a great game with an amazing story.
Now let's hop in to 3 of the best games from 2007-2009 and let's check which games are considered the GOTG.
2007
Bioshock is a first person shooter game developed by 2k Boston and was published by 2k games. This game's graphics and visuals were ahead of it's time. Specially the atmosphere of this game was something else. The story of this game is considered one of the best elements of this game. This game sold over 4 million copies till now.
Call of Duty 4 "Modern Warfare" was also one of the most popular game that came in this year. This game was very popular also but Bioshock made quite the buzz when it came out. COD 4 definitely won some GOTG awards it's safe to say that Bioshock clearly won more of them. Which is why it is considered the Game of the year of 2007.
2008
The Game of the Year of 2008 was clearly GTA 4. GTA or Grand Theft Auto games are a standard for open world games for a long time. They are the best open world based games from the 2000's. This lot of games were developed and published by Rockstar Games. Rockstar Games has been making great open world games from the get go. Some of their best games before GTA 4 were: GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, GTA 3 etc. GTA 4 ruled the open world gaming section for a long time before it's successor GTA 5 made it's debut. The gameplay, the immersive open world, the physics all were top notch of this game. Some might even consider this game's physics is better than GTA 5. Surely this game was a huge success for Rockstar Games in 2008. This game has sold over 25 million copies so far and there are people that play this game still due to it's amazing story and gameplay. This game has one of the best protagonists ever from R * games.
2009
Uncharted 2 is considered the Game of the Year for 2009. Tbh, I have very less experience or knowledge about this game series. There are 4 games in total of the uncharted series. I've mostly seen some of the gameplay of Uncharted 4. And by the looks of it, this series might be just as good as people say about it. Uncharted 2 was developed by Naughty Dog and it was published by Sony Computer Entertainment. This game is great but it's Playstation Exclusive I think. This one has sold over 6 million copies over the years which is a good amount considering the availability.
