❤️ Jute and textile industry in Dhaka ❤️

The textile industry plays an important role in the economy of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. [1] The industrial city also contributes a lot to the manufacturing, export and employment sectors of the industry. Among the various textile industries in the city, the jute industry helped Kolkata to dominate in industrialization. According to data published in 2008, the main characteristics of Dhaka's textile industry are:

33 percent textile companies based in Dhaka manufacture and sell branded products.

Between 2006 and 2008, Kolkata's textile industry grew at an average rate of 27 percent.

The textile industry operates on the basis of 90 percent of the average capacity of the consumer.

Clothing is the most preferred textile service in Dhaka.

They carried 23 percent of the city's textile industry with at least two manufacturing facilities.

38 percent of Dhaka's total textile industry is 1990-old. Only 18 percent were established after 2000. 65 percent of these textile companies are linked to export services. About 40 percent of them derive the lion's share of total revenue from these export services. The main reason behind the growth of the textile industry in Kolkata is the lower cost of doing business in Kolkata compared to other metropolitan cities in India. Apart from this, the immense natural resources and favorable climate have facilitated the growth of the textile industry in the city.

Handloom Industry of Dhaka- Like other handicrafts, the handloom department of Kolkata has also made a huge contribution to the industrial development of the city.

Dhaka's Jute Industry - Jute known as 'Golden Tantu' is the cheapest available fiber here. It is used in the production of various jute products such as sacks, bags, purses, bottle bags, ornaments, floor carpets, high quality gifts and accessories which occupy a large part of the textile industry. Some of the famous jute industries located in Kolkata are: Indian Jute Industries Research Association, Anand Jute Industries, Dunlop Jute House, SKG Jute Industries.

Textiles in Dhaka – Textiles, apart from its contribution to Kolkata's textile industry, continues to play an important role in employing skilled workers in the city. Many people are still engaged in cotton trade. The cotton market in Kolkata offers a variety of popular cotton products, such as clothes, yarn, fabrics and apparel.

Dhaka Silk Industry – Silk industry, due to its growing demand, has developed into an emerging industry in Kolkata. Two famous silk industries located in this city are:
