Kokopeli... the Angle
Kokopeli ...
Is the God of fertility in some native American cultures, residing in Southwest, USA. It is not only the fertility deity of childbirth, but also agricultural and all natural fertility (animals of the land). Dating back as far as 750 AD in Aztec and Hopi regions.
He also represents the siprit of music, with his flute being used to scare away winter to usher in the spring.
The humpedor rounded back, is symbolic of a pouch of seeds, human or argicultural.
Changed the angle
This image was created by spraying acryilc on a trash bag over a cutout form.
I angled it to have a greater dynamicism as a moving entity... and lets face it greater interest... the same old horizontal, verticle thing can become quite redundant at times so it is also not a square... yes inpart because it is a whole trash bag and that's it shape.
If you look at the body of Kokopeli, you will see my reflection taking the photo... it was framed and hung in this position. It was hung in our dining room over our family get togethers... just because it worked well there... but painter beware, the fertility aspect is spot on;
I can vouch for this...
As far as fertility goes... I painted it, hung it ver the dining room table where the bounties of our work fed us well and now have 3 grandchildren and one more on the way.
So be careful what you paint!
