3 issues with Steemit no one talks about
I am going to keep this post short because I would like some productive dialogue to follow. The issues I am bringing up are similar across all new cyber trends. It seems though that Blockchain innovations such as Steemit face them more vividly.
1. being a "Nerd"

People who use Steemit are people who are into the cyber and tech world. Most of us know a bit about everything when it comes to online technologies. Nonetheless, the vast majority of people, have no idea about how these technologies work. The masses are gadget drones ready to jumb on the next trend that makes life easier.
Part of Apple's success was the fact that it designed products for people who know nothing about computers and had no intention in learning. Whether this is good or bad remains irrelevant. Survival, as Charles Darwin mentioned, rewards those who are more adaptable to change. If Steemit is to become a major social media player then it needs to simplify even more in order to adopt with the induced technological ecosystem of Idiocracy.
2. $$$ talks

Let's face it. For the rest of the world we are mostly nerds playing with imaginary money. I know, I know all money is imaginary but this is not how many people see it. Money is trust and people trust their national currencies for whatever reason.
Much like a financial turmoil almost always increases Bitcoin's popularity (#Brexit or the Chinese Stock crash) the opposite is also true. Every single time a scandal in the Blockchain world happens people run away. We are all familiar with the Mt. Gox showdown, the Dao Hack or the most recent #Bitfinex raid.
People might be suspicious of greedy bankers but they are absolutely terrified of computer nerds. Bankers might be getting an unfair share but hackers will take your entire life down - whether that is your online persona or your personal bank account. For a technology such as Blockchain that prouds itself on security there are still a lot work that needs to be done since the top innovators are also the top hackers.
2. "it's a Scam!"

It went through everybody's mind but nobody wants to really talk about it. Like a friend said to me "It's a cow, milk it until it gets dry". Considering the amount of scams in the "real" world one can imagine that the crypto world will get the same old tricks... on steroids.
Already there are people who make hundreds of thousands on Steemit. One can imagine that the distribution of money won't be as "fair" no matter what quality content one can produce. People with more capital will always top the small guys who will be left with pennies, holding the entire scheme together.
A more reassuring reward system will definately aid adaptation.
I don't think it needs to simplify much more. I think you'd be surprised how many people posting on here had no prior experience to crypto before this website.
I agree with you but many people want everything served on their plate clear and simple. most pople don't even know what "html" stand for. You won't expect from them to use any coding skills.
I had ZERO previous exposure to crypto before steemit. I made this post earlier to share some of what I learned while thinking about cryptocurrencies vs. the USD.
I'd like to thank all of those who have been patient with us newcomers. @papa-pepper
I upvoted You
The reward system is skewed in favor of voting on the game, not on the value.
That's a big breaking point for anyone wanting to make a bit of money in a 'seemingly fair' way
Well I agree but in order for adaptation to move forward customers need a convincing bait. Don't forget. They will be abandoning their dear traditional networks for steemit.
Yeah, and that will work for a week or two. After that, with only 20 cents in their pocket, they may return to their old ways. Transparancy is important for retention. You won't retain people on success stories alone.
That's so true, I tried a bit to raise awareness about dangers in the crypto world but didn't really succeed.
that's right
In this kind of system
the rich people will be richer
the poor people will be the same, poor
I tend to think folks are too focused on making money on Steemit, they forget to have fun first and foremost.
We both know that this is not true. We all base all of our actions in rewards.
agree ..all about the ROI .. "If I do this how much dopamine, oxytocin, and serotonin will I get.
Yeah, I agree! We should focus on making the community better. Making money should always be secondary to fun.
