I am thrilled to know that #steem-music is now up and running!

You can read more on the initiative through this post by @calebleejl who started this project alongside with @perennial! read about the launching of both #steem-music and #sketchnation in his post here ! I will tell you guys more on #sketchnation soon once all the preparation is ready, currently working on this now.

Here i want to talk about #steem-music as i feel like i do also belong in this community and i totally dont want to missed out on this!

I have actively involved in especially in activism to promote sketching as a way to increase arts appreciation and fight for educational inequality through a registered NGO KLSketchnation i founded in 2014, our motto and KLSketchnation tagline "togetherness in sketching" resonates parallel with the tagline of #steem-music "we leave no notes behind" in a way that we work in a communal setting to appreciate talents and grow together.

Music community in Manchester

Besides of all the communal movement through the visual realm works ive been doing, there is another realm - the realm of sound where i was also been passionately part of when i was in Manchester for my architectural studies for 5 years. One of the notable movement id started was project #markas448, where a group of friends and I rented a house in Moss Lane East, Manchester with an extra room at the front to make it as a communal space for Malaysian students to gather and connect through meaningful activities, through musics. We start to buy musical instruments one by one to fill in the room starting from guitars and ukulele, then my housemate Raden bought the bass, more guitar and amps, to keyboards and AT2020USB mic and a cajon.

We start to have jamming sessions free guitar classes where we asked the students to just bring their instruments and come with pizzas and tidbits every friday night (luckily our both immediate neighbours are music students and in front of our house is the Whitworth Park!). We have more and more instructors like Syed Amir to teach guitar and Tunku Musyrif to teach piano/keyboard and more students coming in!

Since then, we became the place where event managers and organizers came to find performers for their events and shows. Syed Amir had also developed and founded Manchester Malaysia Music Society and made new covers almost every week to feature these talents through Manchester Weekly Jam .

Occasionally we also have visits from Malaysian musicians and celebrities who happens to come to Manchester.

The master Sham Kamikaze signed on my 12-strings guitar.

We even have our own #markas448 anthem! :P
