A home called the Comfort Zone

Have you ever think that you might discover and learn interesting things when you get out from your comfort zone?

Yes its always scary and its always tiring providing to expect disappointments in the end. Having to break out and do something new will always seems like a long shot. The strive to gain more knowledge and experiences always rewarding when you are away; studying abroad, learning new languages, knowing new people, travelling to new cities, challenging your fears although all of these require big sacrifices. An opportunity cost is always vital.

"Kalau tak dipecahkan ruyung, bagaimana nak mendapat sagunya?"

Its an old Malay sayings which means 'no pain, no gain', which conceptually tells us that we need to work hard in order to get a reward. The harder we try, the more we will get.

But remember, leaving our comfort zone is not about completely change and forget everything you've achieve before.

The best thing about it, you never have to leave everything you have behind. I always see my comfort zone as a home; a cushion to fall back on whenever thing got too unfamilar. After all, you will be your own best self when brings back whatever experiences and knowledges, back to your home ground, and help to make better not just your own self, but those with you since the beginning.

And for me, no point of achieving something high, to be on top of the world, if its about to be alone there. The true success lies within our ability to change everyone including ourself to something better. Im glad that i always have a home to fall back to. :)

Great things are meant to be shared.

Oh let me tell you a bit about this practice drawings i've had few years ago. It was a family gathering with our extended family, the family of my dad's best friends in which we the kids grew up together as we will meet or travel or have some activities and games every now and then since we were little. I was away for quite some time for my study abroad and was really exited to meet them for a simple dinner gathering.

So as a surprise i wanted to make some arts to share with them. As their big brother, I wanted to make something extra that time, i want to take the chance to try out some new techniques i never tried. The idea to surprise them came in about 48 hours before the gathering, so im pressed to do something fast and impactful.

So i tried some pencil colours.

And i did for uncles and aunties too. :)

Ends up that i actually drawn 13 faces in just 24 hours.

And decided to frame them up nicely too...:)

Wow these turned out really great and spot on for making the drawings look like each person! You’ve got a great talent! I love the splash of color you added too. I can imagine how special that was for them to receive those from you! Thanks for sharing ~ 😊

This is such a sweet idea! I love the colours you chose, they really bring a lot of life into the artwork. I'm sure that your family loved receiving these!

You are very talented! I love the fact you used color pencils, not lead pencil for these. Not only is it different, but it makes them look happier somehow
