Canadian beauty with a bang!
Meanwhile up in Canada on a beautiful family mountain called Silverstar there was a magical lightup brightening up the sky above the little ski village. Despite being up at the ski hill quite regularly over the years I had never seen this locally famous light up.
We had made a dinner reso for 16 at one of the hills pub's, Long Johns. And thank the gods we did make that reso because the hill was so packed that the main parking lot was completely full! But where would all of the cars park if the lot was full??? Don't worry they have a few backups.
When we arrived at Long Johns pub I heard John the owner turning people away at the door due to an hour and a half wait for a table! This might be common in a city but it is an unheard of wait time for dinner up at the hill.
To be honest I wasn't going up the mountain to see the lights turn on or to watch the fire works go off so I had no expectations, I was just headed up there for some Okanagan Springs Pale Ale and a few familiar friendly faces.
We paid our bills and headed out the door a few steps into the village where everyone was gathered around because at 7:55pm it was all going to happen! And just like that they flipped the switch and the village lit up like a beautiful winter wonder land.
I must admit I was a bit surprised to hear the oohs and awws coming from my mouth but it was a truly beautiful experience. Who knew something so simple could please me in such a way.
Suddenly there was a loud sound and a flash of light! The fire works has started, I somehow felt like I was seeing them for the first time. Maybe it was the mountain altitude or the two beer I had just finished but it was an impressive sight!
What a lovely evening spent with friends up on our beautiful mountain, I love it when the simple things in life put a smile on my face. Just wanted to express to the universe how grateful I am to be able to share these times with the people I love.
What is your favourite thing to do during the month of December? Do you live in a snowy winter wonderland or a hot desert oasis? Let me know below!

Haha great post from the good old Okanagan @kylaki !! Have not been up to Silver Star yet , but I have been up to Big White I actually did some security work up the last New Years Eve !! It was awesome , lots of party goers ! LOL! I lived in Beaverdell 30 min. Past the Big White turn off , hoping to get my small house / cabin built by this summer so I can move back that way ! Great fishing in the area . Thanks for sharing your trip and awesome pics. With us ! Have been up to Big White !? Upped and resteemed !!👌👍✌💕🌅🌅🌅
I still like making snowmen ! Last year I shared a little one I made on my balcony ! An one at work on the construction site while doing security LOL!
Wow making snowmen never gets old ⛄️ ⛄️ ⛄️
I love it too! The only thing I dont like about it is ruining the fresh sheet of snow ❄️ ❄️ on the ground to make the snow man. Sometimes it just looks so beautiful, the untouched snow so smooth and glistening any time the light hits it.
Thank you for the resteem and upvote, I appreciate that a lot! Yes I have been to big white but only once! I went for watch some ski jumping towards the end of
The season. The village up there is way bigger than silverstar. I didn’t end up skiing that day I just took part in the festivities!
Sure, I would like to spend December with my family and friends in a winter and white atmosphere :)
Hey there it seems like white Christmas is a pretty popular idea, I mean hey they even wrote a song 🎶 or two about it! I’m guessing you be somewhere warm for Christmas and you won’t be seeing snow?
I live in Poland and recently the Christmas time were without snow, and I remember from childhood that the atmosphere of white Christmas is much better :)
Yes for sure, there is something quite magical about the snow.
Plus it kinda sucks when its cold and no snow... just dirty grey world with no leaves on the trees!
Well my wish for you this Christmas is for snow to fall on Poland!
Well, this is - cold gray winter. With snow, quite different, more fun. Sledges and similar sports :) What is your favorite winter sport?
Thanks for the wishes!
Skiing for sure, I downhill mostly but I got cross country this year too! I like going up to the hill doing a few runs having lunch and a beer and then going on a few harder runs with my liquid courage!
However snowshoeing is fun because I can bring my dog chad if its not too far. Sometimes he gets cold though and I have to carry him around!
I will agree with you again - skiing is a lot of fun. I used to ride a bit, now I'm going down a snowboard. I would highly recommend! :)
Skiing for me, snowboarding feels to captive. I don't like my feet being stuck in one position. In the summer I like to surf behind a boat so its not the board that is the problem its just being stuck to it that I dont like. I am going to go sledding (skidoo) this year which I am excited about too!!
It's very nice , i like this
Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed it. It was quite beautiful ❄️🌲⛄️
You canadians surely know how to enjoy the cold wintery snowy season, LOL!
Well we don't have much choice! There is really no point in trying to fight it.
If you cant beat them then join them kinda deal.
Yay winter!!
winter is back, Canada is a beautiful country. 👍
Yes winter is back and its a beautiful world outside!
Yes is so beautiful, nice sharing
