Watercolor, also known as aquarelle, may be the oldest and most widely used form of painting, possibly dating all the way back to paleolithic cave paintings. It uses paint made of pigments suspended in water based solution. Though it looks simple, it is a complex form of painting and uses many different techniques to create a variety of effects.
